Carolina rose has formed a low clone atop of a rock, growing
together with scrub oak and bristly sarsaparilla and surrounded by a carpet
of pineweed (Hypericum gentianoides). Unlike other common native roses, this is a plant of dry,
rocky or sandy habitats.
